Teresa Yu

Teresa joined Garden Chambers after reading law and serving pupillage with Mr Derek Chan S.C., Mr Charles J. Chan., Mr Stanley Siu, Ms Queenie Ng, and Mr Felix Li. In developing a broad mixed practice, Teresa has a particular focus on commercial disputes and land and trust related matters, as well as family law disputes. Teresa has advised and advocated for clients in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters and has, both as a sole advocate and a led junior, appeared in all levels of Court in her own right. In all cases, she is committed to resolving the disputes amicably wherever possible, and, where necessary, fight for respective clients in their best interests in mind.
Outside court, Teresa also accepts urgent engagement for legal visits and/or advice and saves no effort in contributing her time to the legal industry by accepting appointments from different institutions and organising events for budding and young legal talents and undertaking pro-bono legal services via multiple schemes.
Teresa’s diligent, accurate and eloquent advisory and advocacy are widely recognised in both Chinese and English matters.

TKY v. YSGA [2024] HKCA 689
· Counsel for the Petitioner in resisting the Respondent’s application for leave to appeal against a children judgment handed by the family court.
TKY v. YSGA [2025] 1 HKLRD 977
· Counsel for the Petitioner as the sole advocate in resisting the appeal against the legal costs provision order.
CYK v HWS (FCMC 6813/2020)
· Counsel for the Petitioner in a children trial fixed for 4 days involving various allegations of child abuse. The case was settled during trial.
王 v. 羅 [2022] HKFC 198
· Counsel for the Respondent (led by Mr. Felix Li) in successfully seeking an anti-suit injunction order restraining the Petitioner from continuing divorce proceedings in the PRC.
WYT v NWL (FCMC 8565/2024)
· Counsel for the Petitioner successfully obtained an ouster order and non-molestation order against the Respondent.
Civil Advisory Matter
- Teresa advised on matters in seeking to set aside legal charges against landed properties entered for mortgages for more than HK$76 millions and secured a manifestly favourable amicable settlement for the mortgagor.
- Teresa advised on matters relating to commercial preservation order / mareva injunction arising from disputes as to directorship and beneficial ownership to a company and misappropriation of trust property, including the variation and discharge of injunction alike and the fortification of ex parte undertakings.

Dicky Cheung
Dicky’s practice areas are contractual, bankruptcy, winding-up, company and land disputes.
For contentious cases, Dicky has represented listed companies, state-owned banks (foreign and PRC), property developers and high-net worth individuals in handling complex commercial, corporate and civil litigation and enforcement actions in Competition Ordinance, Cap 619, involving securities, trusts, probate, multiple and foreign parties and complicated transactions.
For advisory work, Dicky regularly advises on regulatory compliance on listing matters (including Initial Public Offering of securities and bonds, on instructions from PRC state-owned banks), companies governance matters and merger and acquisition of companies.
Dicky has regularly conducted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) course to solicitors on electronic fraud and disciplinary proceedings, and judicial review.
Dicky is fluent in Putonghua and regularly handles mainland related cases and parties.
He was appointed Deputy Magistrate of the Hong Kong Judiciary in 2023 and 2024.

Vivian Chan
Vivian took the CPE and obtained her law degree with the Manchester Metropolitan University and completed her PCLL with the University of Hong Kong. She commenced her practice as a barrister in 2018.
Drawing from the experience from her commercial background, Vivian has developed a broad civil practice with emphasis on land, building management, equity and trusts, probate, as well as general commercial disputes. She also accepts instructions for criminal proceedings. Vivian has appeared as sole advocate in the District Court, the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal.
Alongside her legal practice, Vivian currently teaches part-time at the University of Hong Kong as a tutor, and at the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKUSPACE) as an adjunct lecturer in Land Law and Civil Procedure.
She is also an accredited mediator with HKMAAL and has acted as Mediator in cases involving debt recovery, intellectual property rights, contractual claims, commercial disputes, employment and building management.
Vivian is fluent in English and Cantonese.
